Herbalism Roots Internship Partner
Front Range Herbal Seed Library
We are excited to introduce our new internship partner, Front Range Herbal Seed Library in Denver, Colorado.

The Front Range Herbal Seed Library began toward the close of 2020 by Marla Alexander, here in Denver, CO, with the hopes of selecting for drought resistance in herbs in our challenging and unique bioregion. Marla has a background in herbalism, gardening, and small scale growing for plant sales locally. The primary goal of the seed library is to have a resource of free herbal seeds (medicinal, culinary, and traditional crafting herbs) that the community can both donate seeds from their best performing plants, and also pick up varieties from others that have donated. The seed library currently accepts seed donations, packages them with informative labels, and distributes them free of charge in the spring at pop-ups in local small businesses. Follow the library’s Instagram to find out when and where we’re popping up!
Marla’s advice for future professionals
“What I’m always telling myself and others is that everything is an experiment. A lot of people new to seeds hesitate to plant them, or believe that they won’t succeed. But the seeds are wise and know what to do. Our job is to be humble, patient, and observant, and willing to continue to learn. Document what you are doing, as it is an incredible gift to your future self and others!”
~Marla
