Golden Poppy Herbal Apothecary

We are excited to introduce our internship partner, Golden Poppy Herbal Apothecary in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Sarah Josey is an herbalist, educator, and founder of Golden Poppy Herbal Apothecary & Clinic. Rooted in a deep respect for the intelligence of plants, her work weaves together herbal medicine, nutrition, and seasonal living to support whole-person healing. Through remedies, classes, and community offerings, she creates spaces where people can reconnect with nature and cultivate lasting wellness.
Advice for future professionals
“Get as much hands-on experience as possible. Make the medicine, work with people, and spend time in real herbal spaces like apothecaries and clinics. This is where learning becomes embodied. Also, don’t overlook the importance of business skills. Many herbalists struggle not because of lack of knowledge, but because they aren’t prepared to sustain a practice. Learning how to communicate, market, and manage your work is just as important as understanding the plants.”
